Scottsville Wednesday March 30

1

4 GET IN THE Q    5 SABATINI   9 CATCH THAT MELODY   6 MORGAN LA FAY

Preview: Many unraced runners but of those that have run, SABATINI (5) made marked improvement at long odds in her second start and could go one better although she will face touch opposition from GET IN THE Q (4) who showed good pace on debut behind the promising Princess Ozma and this shorter trip should suit. CATCH THAT MELODY (9) was not far back over course and distance on debut and should come on from that effort. MORGAN LA FAY (6) and TOTALLY ROCKS (10) could prove pick of the first timers. (Andrew Harrison: 4-5-9-6).

2

4 WILLY THE WIZZARD   8 TRIDENT KING   2 KHANYISA INDLELA   1 FIRU STAR

Preview: WILLY THE WIZZARD (4) was a beaten favourite last run. He has improved in blinkers and could be better suited to this shorter trip. TRIDENT KING (8) was a touch disappointing when tried over further last run but is back over a more suitable trip with first time blinkers. KHANYISA INDLELA (2) has improved with each outing. He was finishing off his race nicely last start and should be ripe for this race. FIRU STAR (1) makes his poly debut over a trip that my suit after making a promising debut. (Andrew Harrison: 4-8-2-1).

3

8 RASPBERRY BERET   1 AJRAAS   4 VENTUROUS   6 FORGED IN ICE

Preview: Weak maiden but RASPBERRY BERET (8) has shown some ability. She goes this trip for the first time and the extra could suit. AJRAAS (1) was never in the hunt last run when the field was led a merry dance. A change of tactics could see her in the firing line. VENTUROUS (4) has shown some recent improvement in a compression mask. Her pedigree suggests that she should stay this trip and further. FORGED IN ICE (6) is another than can do better over this trip although her first two sprints showed little. (Andrew Harrison: 8-1-4-6).

4

11 AIRBUZZ   9 DIAMOND GIRL   10 YATA   1 FAMILY FAVOURITE

Preview: Wide open. AIRBUZZ (11) had a tricky draw when going 14500m last start and was not far back. She has better form this trip and Yeni is back aboard. DIAMOND GIRL (9) is hardly ever out of the money but has been dropped two points in the ratings. YATA (10) was a recent maiden winner but is lightly raced and still has scope to make an impression in this line-up. FAMILY FAVOURITE (1) was not too far back on the poly last run but does seem better on the turf. She has done well over course and distance. (Andrew Harrison: 11-9-10-1).

5

5 BOTZ   4 FAUSTINO   6 BLAZE OF SILK   3 SUPER AGRA

Preview: Tricky. BOTZ (5) has only had two starts and given the break in between he obviously has issues. But he won his maiden well and looks capable of better. BLAZE OF SILK (6) is something of a course specialist but the extra furlong could just find him out. The same goes for FAUSTINO (4) but he has a 2.5kg claimer up which could mitigate. Paul Peter raids with SUPER AGRA (3) that has improved at recent outings in blinkers and the trip will suit. IRON TAIL (1) and BERNIE’S DREAM (7) are others to consider. (Andrew Harrison: 5-4-6-3).

6

7 LORD WYLIE   4 RUNAWAY SONG   6 NORTHERN WARRIOR   1 INDUS KNIGHT

Preview: Another tricky affair. LORD WYLIE (7) took on much stronger in a six-furlong sprint last start and was not far off the winner. He will much prefer this trip. RUNAWAY SONG (4) was a recent maiden winner but the form has held up. He could still be under the handicapper’s radar. NORTHERN WARRIOR (6) is seldom far off them of late and is in with a shout. INDUS KNIGHT (1) has some useful Highveld form and from pole position draw should have a shout in this line-up. (Andrew Harrison: 7-4-6-1).

7

5 PALACE WIND   6 LAUREL LANE   3 FRENCH MASTERPIECE  10 TIGHT FIVE

Preview: PALACE WIND (5) has come to hand and ran a cracker over the distance last time out. With a claiming apprentice up, he should feature prominently. LAUREL LANE (6) takes on males but has improved in blinkers. She did well to finish close-up from a difficult draw last start. FRENCH MASTERPIECE (3) is back over a more suitable trip since shedding his maiden. He has a good draw and a 4kg claimer up. TIGHT FIVE (10) has yet to show for his new stable but has first time blinkers and can surprise. SONJADOR (2) has patchy form but can get it together on his day. May prefer it a touch further. (Andrew Harrison: 5-6-3-10).

8

2 MCKENNA SKY   10 PRINCESS DONELLEY   5 BINGIN BEACH   11 TUPELO HONEY

Preview: MCKENNA SKYE (2) is smart and goes well over course and distance. Runner-up to her last start is stable companion Roha which ran at Hollywoodbets Greyville last Sunday. PRINCESS DONELLY (10) has not put a foot wrong since joining her new yard. Her recent form is all in the soft but given the recent rains she should make her presence felt again. BINGIN BEACH (5) has yet to finish out of the money and is lightly raced. Stable loyalty could be the choice between Bingin Beach and Mckenna Skye. TUPELO HONEY (11) is a dangerous front runner but al of her recent form has been on the poly. (Andrew Harrison: 2-10-5-11).

Botz could be the right investment Botz strikes as the intelligent bet

Hollywoodbets Scottsville hardly received a drop while Hollywoodbets Greyville was drowning in a monsoon last week. For various logistical reasons and a short time frame it was not possible to shift last Sunday’s meeting to Scottsville but the Kings Cup has been rescheduled for the Capital City track this Sunday.

The Scottsville track has been in mint condition these past few months and punters should be treated to competitive racing this afternoon where the card is headed by the Natal Property Consultants Handicap, fifth on the card.

It is a tricky contest but Dennis Drier saddles Botz who has only had two starts. He has been given a break in between those runs so he obviously has issues but he won his maiden well and looks to have plenty of scope. Runners from this yard are seldom short of a gallop when returning from lay-offs. Corinne Bestel saddles the tough campaigner and course specialist Blaze Of Silk but he does appear to be at his optimum over five furlongs and the extra furlong could just find him out. The same goes for Kom Naidoo’s runner Faustino but he has a 2.5kg claimer up which could mitigate. Paul Peter raids with Super Agra that has improved at recent outings in blinkers and the trip will suit. Iron Tail and Bernie’s Dream are others to consider.

There are many unraced juveniles in the first but of those that have run, Sabatini made marked improvement at long odds in her second start and could go one better although she will face tough opposition from Get In The Q who showed good pace on debut behind the promising Princess Ozma and this shorter trip should suit. Morgan La Fay and Totally Rocks could prove pick of the first timers. In the second, Willie The Wizzard was a beaten favourite last run. He has improved in blinkers and could be better suited to this shorter trip. Trident King was a touch disappointing when tried over further last run but is back over a more suitable trip with first time blinkers while Khanyisa Indlela has improved with each outing. He was finishing off his race nicely last start and should be ripe for this race.

Raspberry Beret looks the part in a weak maiden in the third. She has shown some ability and although she goes this trip for the first time the extra could suit. Ajraas was never in the hunt last run when the field was led a merry dance. A change of tactics could see her in the firing line.

The fourth is a wide open handicap but Airbuzz had a tricky draw when going 14500m last start and was not far back. She has better form this trip and Yeni is back aboard. Diamond Girl is hardly ever out of the money but has been dropped two points in the ratings while Yata was a recent maiden winner but is lightly raced and still has scope to make an impression in this line-up.

The sixth is another tricky affair but Lord Wylie took on much stronger in a six-furlong sprint last start and was not far off the winner. He will much prefer this trip. Runaway Song was a recent maiden winner but the form has held up and he could still be under the handicapper’s radar. Northern Warrior is seldom far off them of late and is in with a shout along with Indus Knight who boasts some useful Highveld form and from pole position draw should have a shout in this line-up.

Veteran Palace Wind has come to hand and ran a cracker over the distance last time out. With a claiming apprentice up, he should feature prominently. Laurel Lane takes on males but has improved in blinkers. She did well to finish close-up from a difficult draw last start and should run a big race.

An exotic bet banker in the last leg can be nerve jangling should you get that far but Mckenna Skye looks the part in the eighth. She is smart and goes well over course and distance. She was runner-up at her last start to stable companion Roha. Of the locals, Princess Donelly has hardly put a foot wrong since joining her new yard. Her recent form is all in the soft but given the recent rains she should make her presence felt again. Gavin van Zyl’s runner Bingin Beach has yet to finish out of the money and is lightly raced. Stable loyalty could be the choice between Bingin Beach and Mckenna Skye for Warren Kennedy. The grey Tupelo Honey is a dangerous front runner but all of her recent form has been on the poly and she has cracked the widest draw.

Gold Circle and Hollywoodbets introduce GallopTV

KwaZulu-Natal horse racing and totalisator operator Gold Circle and sports betting giant Hollywoodbets have announced the launch of Gallop TV, which aims to bring South Africans all the latest horse racing action from KwaZulu-Natal and from the global arena of international horse racing.

The exciting new high-definition sports broadcast channel will offer live racing, betting odds, race results, dividends, interviews, podcasts and play-on demand previews, which will collectively highlight all aspects of the horse racing industry.

“To sustain the sport of horse racing in KZN, it is essential to grow our fan base by ensuring we satisfy our current customers in the betting shops along with offering our product free-to-air via live streaming and satellite to our existing customers, whilst at the same time creating a potentially new market of home viewers. Hollywoodbets has once again demonstrated its commitment to sustaining horse racing in our province by partnering with Gold Circle in this initiative. Without their support, this project would not have been possible,” said Gold Circle CEO, Michel Nairac.

“Hollywoodbets is thrilled to be partnering with Gold Circle on the launch of the Gallop TV production and an exciting new website. We have developed a strong bond with the Gold Circle team and look forward to the success of this project, which we hope will facilitate the objective of bringing more South Africans closer to horse racing,” said Dermot O’Connell, Hollywoodbets Betting Operations Manager.

For the month of February, Tellytrack will remain on DSTV channel 249. However, the Tellytrack live stream on www.tellytrack.com will cease on 31 January. All viewers will be able to watch the live stream of Tellytrack on the Gallop TV website (www.galloptv.co.za) from Tuesday 1 February by registering on the site. There are no monthly subscriptions required.

Further communication regarding the options to view KZN Horseracing via satellite from 1 March, as well as feedback on the ongoing negotiations with 4Racing will be released shortly.
