NIGHT RACING AT HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE RACECOURSE
In 1996, history was made when Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse became the first racetrack in South Africa to successfully install floodlights adding another dimension to the world of thoroughbred horseracing in the country.
Action-packed and exciting, night racing has always been well supported but is building in popularity following the introduction of racing on the Polytrack and more recently, of PrizeNites on selected Friday nights throughout the year.
Other exciting upgrades include a modern bookmakers’ area near the popular Lightning Shot Bar, a Braai Zone casual eating area and a KidZone which are all being well supported.
Two massive television screens positioned in the infield bring all the racing action closer to patrons. Catering facilities have been refurbished and upgraded. The Saddlers Arms has been completely revamped and extensive improvements have been made to the Durban View Restaurant.
A more recent development is the total refurbishment of the “The Shorthead” on the first floor overlooking the Parade Ring. Featuring a tote, bookmakers, modernized bar, light meals and superb viewing on multiple TVs, “The Shorthead” is the meeting place for both serious punters and casual racegoers.
With music, restaurants, picnic areas, beer gardens, special events and more, Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse is the place to be when racing is on a Friday Night. So whether you want to dress to the nines or relax and have some fun, then what better way to start the weekend than with a visit to the races!
