Barrier trial analysis Greyville 1000m poly 20/07/2018 1st Trial
1st Path To Texas (Moodley -1.5 kg/Badenhorst 2yog A 57kg draw 2) This Pathfork gelding was having his second trial. He jumped right and took the lead and found extra when challenged. However, the trial was run in a slow time and little can be read into it. 61.3 seconds
2nd 0,50 Silva’s Fling (De Melo/Kannemeyer 2yoc a 57kg draw 6) This R4 million Silvano colt is out of a five-time winning, Listed-placed own sister to three-time Grade 1 winner Capetown Noir. He has plenty of substance and looks to be full of promise. He was not well away and was then held up behind the slow pace before running on without being asked much. 61.39 seconds.
3rd 2,50 Solid Gold (Arries/Roberts 2yog A 57kg draw 1) This Rock Of Gibraltar gelding was under a hold throughout and with a nice action was allowed to come home in his own time. 61.77 seconds
4th 3,75 Lustrous (Veale/Naidoo 2yoc A 57kg draw 8) This Seventh Rock colt was slow away and green but was doing good work late. Still immature and has scope for improvement 62.01 seconds.
5th 3,85 Silky Speech (Wright/Nel 2yof S 56kg draw 9) This Oratorio filly was green and raced wide but did show some pace. However, she is not an imposing sort and has quite a quick action so it looks like she takes after her mother Nothing But Silk (Belong To Me), who was a five-time winning sprinter who won the wfa Gr2 Sceptre Stakes and the Grade 3 Southern Cross Stakes. She is clearly not as talented as her mother. 62.03 seconds
6th 4,10 El Cordobes (Godden/Howells 3yoc A 57kg draw 5) This Toreador colt was not asked to do a lot and looks to need further. 62.08 seconds
7th 4,35 Keep On Crusing (Brown/Anthony 2yof A 56kg draw 3) This Crusade filly over raced around the turn and after moving up faded late. 62.12 seconds
8th 6,35 Songbird (Mohapi/Kotzen 2yof S 56kg draw 4) This Brave Tin Soldier filly was at the back early and threatened to move up in the straight but did not go through with it. 62,51 seconds.
9th 6,50 Dante’s Gold (Randolph/Lunn 2yof S 56kg draw 7) This Judpot filly is a big galloping sort who will need a lot further. 62.54seconds.
2nd Trial
1st Canadian Bolt (Moodley -1.5 kg/Hill 2yog A 57kg draw 7) This well made Pathfork gelding has plenty of scope and will improve as he goes further. 60.9 seconds
2nd 0.5 Zigi Zagi Zugi (Kennedy/Van Zyl (Jnr) 2yog S 57kg draw 9) This Judpot gelding was restrained from a wide draw but quickened well and ran all the way to the line without being asked any questions. He should also improve as he goes further. 60.99 seconds
3rd 1,00 Spume (Jacobson/Robinson 2yoc A 57kg draw 6) This Eightfold Path colt has a nice long stride and after a slow start stayed on well under driving. He has scope and will need further. 61.09 seconds
4th 1,50 Great Rumpus (Ferraris -4 kg/Robinson 8yog MR71 A 60kg draw 2) This gelding is an evergreen stayer and put up a pleasing trial. 61.18 seconds
5th 1,55 Giulietta (Arries/Wright 3yof MR56 S 58kg draw 8) This Black Minnaloushe filly is a battling maiden and had to be pushed along before staying on. 61.19 seconds
6th 2,55 Getawaycar (Sakayi -4 kg/Van Wyk 2yog A 57kg draw 3) This unraced Kildonan gelding showed some early pace and was held together in the straight so didn’t give much away. 61.38 seconds
7th 6,55 Kheelan Dynasty (Wright/N Kotzen 3yog S 59kg draw 1) This Dynasty gelding is a half-brother to the useful Taipan and found some support on debut last November but was unplaced and his next outing was in a barrier trial in March. He showed some pace here but was a touch keen and was then outpaced in the straight. On pedigree he needs a lot further but he will need to settle better. 62.14 seconds
8th 8,30 Captain Von Trapp (Ramzan -4 kg/Roberts 4yog MR81 A 60kg draw 5) This big and rangy Captain Al gelding put in an eyecatching trial as he was kept on a tight hold but was striding out nicely and he should be competitive in sprints. 62.48 seconds.
9th 15,80 Mumsy (Pagel/Denysschen 3yof MR56 A 58kg draw 4) This battling Mogok filly refused to gallop early before plugging on. 63.98 seconds.
