Barrier Trial Greyville poly 1000m 21/09/2018

1st Sir Bernadini (AUS) (B Lerena/Bosch MR91 A 60kg draw 6) In his first outing since June he strode out well under a hold. 58.92 seconds

2nd 2,25 Fly By Skye (Winnaar/G Kotzen MR71 AB 60kg draw 11) In his first outing since March he pulled his way to the front and strode out well under a hold. 59.33 seconds

3rd 3,00 Drunken Sailor (Kennedy/Van Zyl (Snr) MR88 A 59kg draw 1) This Irish Flame gelding has won one race, an ordinary Juvenile Plate, back in March and this was his second barrier trial of the season. He showed some pace and a fair action and found another gear when given some rein near the end. 59.46 seconds

4th 3,15 Romanesca (Jacobs -4 kg/Lafferty MR64 AB 59kg draw 3) This battling maiden showed some pace and strode out well under a hold but it wasn’t the fastest run trial and he gave the impression he would appreciate further. 59.49 seconds

5th 3,65 Fiorano (Jacobson/Rivalland A 59kg draw 8) This unraced Visionaire gelding was slowly away and green but stayed on well showing a fair action and has scope for improvement. 59.58 seconds

6th 7,90 Harmattan (Ferraris -1.5 kg/G H Van Zyl A 59kg draw 10) This unraced Ideal World gelding was having his second barrier trial. He displayed a fair action and was not asked any questions. He has scope and will likely need a lot further. 60.37 seconds

7th 8,15 Whispering Hill (Sakayi -2.5 kg/Van Wyk A 58kg draw 9) This unraced filly by The Assayer was green around the bend and had to be given a backhander in the straight. 60.42 seconds

8th 10,15 Keep On Crusing (Brown/Anthony A 58kg draw 4) This unraced Crusade filly was having her second barrier trial. She over raced around the bend and faded late. 60.8 seconds

9th 13,15 Beluga Berry (Ngwane/Freedman MR48 s 60kg draw 5) In his first start since May he was not asked to do a lot. 61.38 seconds

10th 13,65 Orpen Lad (De Melo/Lunn sB 59kg draw 12) This unraced Rock Of Gibraltar gelding wore blinkers and was green throughout. He is immature and can improve. 61.48 seconds

11th 16,40 Thru’ The Trees (Pagel/Denysschen A 58kg draw 2) This unraced Querari filly is tall and has a fair action and plenty of scope so should pay her way. She was not asked to a lot and will improve with time and over further. Her dam by Al Mufti is a full-sister to the great Victory Moon and was placed twice over 1800m. 62.02 seconds

12th 22,15 Steam Hammer (Gates -4 kg/Freedman s 59kg draw 7) This unraced Pathfork gelding was green throughout and the penny still has to drop. 63.19 seconds
