Barrier trial Greyville poly 1000m 07/10/2018

st Can You Feel It (Kennedy/Van Zyl (Jnr) MR98 A 58kg draw 9) This classy daughter of Jackson finished third in both the Grade 2 Golden Slipper over 1400m and the Grade 1 Thekwini over 1600m. In her reappearance here she showed pace and strode out well throughout under a hold. 60.03 seconds

nd 2,00 Monte Christo (Marcus/Crawford MR86 S 60kg draw 6) This six-year-old Trippi gelding won well over 1200m at Scottsville in August. He showed pace and strode out well without being asked any questions. 60.4 seconds

rd 3,75 Hashtaggthemost (Bantam -2.5 kg/B Crawford S 59kg draw 8) This unraced Count Dubois filly is quite small but compact. She showed pace and stayed on with a rounded action. 60.72 seconds

th 5,75 Red Shift (Wright/Nel MR67 S 60kg draw 5) This four-year-old Silvano gelding won his maiden over 1400m at Kenilworth in his sixth career start in August. He strode out well and displayed a nice action so off a reasonable merit rating could be one to look out for in his first handicap. 61.1 seconds

th 5,85 Philae (Arries/Nel MR76 S 59kg draw 7) This five-year-old Silvano mare had some fair form in Cape Town although her last run at Durbanville over 1400m in August was her career worst performance. She strode out well throughout and has a fair action. 61.12 seconds

th 5,90 Selailai (Jacobs -4 kg/Nel MR72 S 60kg draw 4) This Toreador gelding won his maiden second time out over 1200m at Kenilworth and ran a fair race over 1250m first time out the maidens but disappointed in two subsequent starts over 1600m. He was slowly away but then ran on well from last with a nice action and is one to look out for in a handicap from 1200m to 1400m. 61.13 seconds

th 7,15 Prosecco (Ngwane/Gordon MR79 A 59kg draw 3) This Var filly won her maiden second time out over 1200m but ran poorly in two subsequent handicaps and the jockey felt something amiss in the last of them although nothing was detected. She returned here from a seven month layoff. She over raced in behind horses before moving up and then finding no extra. 61.37 seconds

th 8,65 Mighty Mercury (Randolph/Whitehead MR74 At 60kg draw 1) This Pathfork gelding won his maiden over 1000m on the Greyville turf in his eighth career start but was unplaced in all three subsequent handicap starts and returned here from an eight month layoff. His action suggests he would prefer further but he has been kept to sprints and this could be due to his breathing issues. 61.66 seconds

th 12,15 Sweet Preserve (X Jacobs -4 kg/Van Zyl (Jnr) MR77 AB 58kg draw 2) This Duke Of Marmalade filly was knocking hard from 1500-1600m as a juvenile maiden and returned here from a four month layoff with second-time blinkers. She strode out well enough without being asked any questions. 62.34 seconds

th 12,40 South Paw (Moodley/Van Wyk MR59 A 60kg draw 10) Returned from an eleven month layoff and clearly needed it. Strode out quite well but was just held together. 62.39 seconds

th 12,65 Golden Halo (Gates -4 kg/Puller A 59kg draw 11) This unraced Miesque’s Approval gelding showed some pace but the penny still has to drop and he dropped back in the straight. 62.44 seconds
