Two notable absentees from the Vodacom Durban July entry list were the Summer Cup winner Zillzaal and the SA Classic runner up Green Laser.

The Sean Tarry-trained Zillzaal recently had to undergo colic surgery and is out for the rest of the season.

The Robbie Sage-trained Green Laser has been sold to Hong Kong-based connections and will not race in South Africa again.
