A nine race programme awaits punters tonight at Hollywoodbets Greyville with the first set to jump at 15:40 and race 9 at 20:30.
M J Odendaal saddles Serpentine Fire in race 1, he made good progress in his last start and is the top selection. He jumps from a good barrier gate which is crucial at this track so he should have the run of the race.
Fire Tiger from the Frank Robinson yard has made steady progress in his last start and can continue to build on that effort. Long Street ran in front of the top selection in the last start however has had many chances, she won’t be far so respect her
chances.
The Peter Muscutt trained Isivivane in the second won a gutsy race when shedding his maiden tag, he looks extremely progressive so deserves huge respect especially with the engagement of jockey Ryan Munger. Peregrine Falcon for trainer Garth Puller is another with plenty of scope to go well, although he returns after a break he may run well fresh and another point to consider is the fact that he looks to be a decent sort hence he cannot be discounted.
Beautiful Rania has received betting support in recent starts and can get involved on best form, she has a top rider up and should be included.
Andrew Fortune will be aboard Harun Al Rashid in the fourth race, he was heavily supported in the betting market in his last start and was narrowly beaten. He does have a tricky draw but will make his presence felt in a big way.
The filly Cherry Oh Baby could be the main danger to Harun Al Rashid, she has been knocking on the door up in the Highveld and will be in the firing line here.
Sascha’s Dream will be the top choice in Race 6 for trainer Doug Campbell, she gets Rachel Venniker aboard who claims the 1.5kgs not to mention her eye-catching run in her last start.
The main danger could come from the consistent Hodgepodge from the Stuart Ferrie yard. She has a top draw and will go very closer to winning so must be factored into everything.
The Mike/Mathew de Kock trained Tyrconnell looks a tough nut to crack on current form in the seventh. He was narrowly beaten in his last start and will be a serious factor in this contest.
His main rival could come from the M J Odendaal trained Thisiswhatitmeans with the in-form rider Ryan Munger aboard. His form speaks for itself, he does go over 1400m this time round compared to recent runs however a bold showing is expected.

RACE 3
8 PRINCE FLORIAN 7 THE GREEN GALLANT 11 TREND MAKER 2 FOREST DRUM
Preview: PRINCE FLORIAN (8) ran a good race last time when second to Deputy Chief and is now confidently selected to go one more and win his maiden – might be hard to oppose. THE GREEN GALLANT (7) is very well tried but has more of a place chance than a winning one. Hard to predict when he is going to win as he has tried 33 times but is the type of horse that can never be ignored from any bets – respect and include. TREND MAKER (11) and FOREST DRUM (2) are must includes for the quartet. (Warren Lenferna 8-7-11-2)

RACE 5
6 EVENTIDOR 13 ANIMAL IMPACT 1 CONNOISSEUR 3 COUNT MARSH
Preview: EVENTIDOR (6) ran an absolute cracker last time but is taking time to win again. Tonight looks to be the night! In form Ryan Munger will be in the saddle and they are the firm first choice. ANIMAL IMPACT (13) despite the draw, should be right there at the finish. Gavin Lerena has been booked to do the honors. QUEEN AMINA (11) looks to be a progressive filly and it would be no shock if she beat them all – bright chance. SASCHA’S DREAM (2) should be in the first three and has serious claims. RACE 7
9 SAVANTRIX 3 THISISWHATITMEANS 6 TYRCONNELL 5 THE CAIN TRAIN
Preview: SAVANTRIX (9) was ridden by Sean Veale the last time he won and tonight Sean is back in the saddle. Consistent form and has a strong winning chance but it is a competitive field. Preview: 8 MUNCHKIN has always had a lot of ability but tends to not put it in at the racecourse but he made a good local debut and the change of environment might see him coming into his own. 4 BETHEL is a hard-knocker over the minimum trip and should be right there. 5 AADEHYA is off a competitive merit rating and could be a threat. 1 KING’S RANSOM only just failed last time over 1400m but enjoys this trip too. (David Thiselton 8-4-5-1)

Candice Bass-Robinson got off to a flyer at a lightning-fast Hollywoodbets Durbanville yesterday saddling the first two home in the opener, a Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) over 1000m. The ante-post favourite Cliffscape was scratched during the morning, leaving Candice with two debutantes to represent the stable, and they did her proud. Amen Corner (7/1) bounced away smartly from the gates and kept up a resolute gallop all the way to the line to hold off her stable companion Precocious (16/1) by just under a length.
Elusive Winter (6/1) and The Abdicator (9/4) cut each other’s throat in the second race, a Middle Stakes over 1000m, setting a cracking gallop with Nordic Chief (8/1) some four lengths adrift in third spot and the balance of the 7-strong field a long way back. Elusive Winter tried gamely to keep going when The Abdicator threw in the towel, but Nordic Chief accelerated smartly into the closing stages and drew clear to score comfortably, stopping the clock at 56,56 seconds – marginally outside the course record set by Empress Club in 1992. The favourite Arctic Wizard was run off his feet in the early stages and turned for home at the rear, but the 3yo son of What A Winter ran on well to close out the Quartet and is clearly better over slightly further.
The impeccably bred Hoerikwaggo (7/2) put her act together in fine style under Richard Fourie to win the third race, an Open Maiden (F&M) over 1250m, at only the third time of asking. There was solid on course support for the newcomer Thingamabob and the daughter of Trippi caught the eye by finishing second just ahead of the consistent Catch A Penny (33/10) who tried to make all the running from a poor draw. Hoerikwaggo has plenty of upside and will appreciate further while Thingamabob looks a winner in waiting and should be worth following at her next start.
The Brett & James Crawford training team are back in full swing and recorded a race to race double with Dubbelosix (9/4) saluting in the fourth race, an Open Maiden over 1600m. Dubbelosix hit the front approaching the final 300m and had more than enough in hand to hold out Master Bomber (6/1) and Tunguska (14/1) by a diminishing half-a-length. Thirty-five minutes later the Crawford outfit completed the hattrick when Strawberry Thief (5/2) came from last to beat the professional maiden English Mistress (5/2) by half-a-length in the fifth race, an Open Maiden (F&M) over 1800m. Following on the success of Hoerikwaggo earlier, Strawberry Thief was a second winner for Richard Fourie in the colours of his sponsor Ridgemont.
The sixth race, a Class 4 Handicap (F&M) over 1800m, produced a good finish between the well backed Lavendar Bay, a chance ride for Sean Veale, and the top weight Royal Invitation (10/1) with the former prevailing by a neck in receipt of 6,5kgs. The money was also on the button in the seventh race, a Class 5 Handicap over 1000m, when Devin Ashby produced Lucy Rocket (33/10) from a few lengths off the pace with a well-timed late charge to mow down Champagne Mac (7/2) over the last 50m.
Fourie rode his third winner aboard Street Outlaw for trainer Ricky Maingard when getting the better of Firingonallengines in a head-bobbing duel in the eighth race, a Class 4 Handicap over 1250m. Firingonallengines tried gamely to go from pillar-to-post and was only undone by Fourie’s magic in the very last stride. Iconic Destination failed to overcome his wide draw and was never a factor, finishing more than three lengths off the winner.
Fourie added a fourth winner with a spectacular victory on Okavango in the ninth race, a Class 4 Handicap over 1600m. In a well spread-out field, Okavango (28/10) cornered for home three lengths behind the second last horse and at that stage his chance of success seemed a lost cause. But the Justin Snaith-trained 3yo son of Master Of My Fate began to reel them in one by one up the home stretch and amazingly got up in the last few metres to deny Touchdown (6/1) by a head.
